Fatal Texas Hit-and-Run Suspect at Large
Trying to flee from an accident may seem like a viable option for an individual, but in most cases, leaving the scene of an accident only results in additional charges for the parties involved. A hit and run accident is a very serious event that can result in serious injuries or even fatalities. If a fatality does occur in a hit and run incident, the party deemed responsible could face felony charges.
A similar situation recently took place in Texas, and authorities are currently looking for the driver of an SUV. Reports state that a 61-year-old man was attempting to cross a street when he was hit by the SUV. The driver did not stop after the collision to render aid and continued traveling from the scene.
The victim was transported to a hospital after emergency crews were apparently alerted to the accident. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries approximately 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital. Felony charges are likely to be leveled against the driver involved after he or she is apprehended by authorities.
A Texas Personal Injury and Hit-and-Run Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation
A hit and run accident is a very difficult event as actions against the party deemed at fault are delayed until the driver is located. When the accident is one that results in the death of an individual, the situation is considerably more unfortunate. While the family waits for the driver to be taken into custody, they may wish to explore their options for possibly seeking restitution for the loss of their loved one. A successful wrongful death claim in Texas could potentially result in their being awarded compensation for permissible damages stemming from the accident.
