18-Wheeler Accident the Result of Drifting in Lanes
Momentarily drifting into the opposite lanes of traffic may not seem like a catastrophic error to some drivers. However, if this mistake occurs and other vehicles are in the opposite-traveling lane, a serious collision could take place. In some cases, this type of collision could involve an 18-wheeler, and that truck accident could end in serious injuries or even fatalities.
A similar incident recently happened in Texas when three vehicles were involved in a crash. It was reported that a pickup truck was moving west when it crossed the center line and into the lane going east. This mistake led to the pickup colliding with an 18-wheeler hauling milk and then with another truck hauling rocks. The impact caused the milk truck to overturn.
The incident resulted in the three occupants of the pickup truck all suffering fatal injuries. The driver of the milk truck was transported to an area hospital due to suffering injuries that were described as incapacitating. The driver of the third truck was reportedly not injured in the event. Details on the possible cause of the driving error were not available, but the investigation into the situation is continuing.
A Semi-Truck Accident Lawyer can Help Win Financial Compensation
A truck accident that ends in a fatality is an incident that can affect many individuals. Because there were multiple deaths as well as serious injuries, the legal situation surrounding this Texas event could become somewhat complicated. Though the driver of the pickup truck died in the accident, the families of the other victims as well as the injured tractor trailer driver may still wish to pursue compensation. As a result, they may want to consider filing civil claims against the estate of the driver considered at fault.
