Man Dies in Hit-and-Run in Downtown Houston

When involved in an accident, many drivers opt to follow the law and stay on the scene in order to help and provide information to authorities. Unfortunately, not all drivers follow this regulation, and some may flee the scene in an attempt to evade punishment or other negative repercussions. However, doing so often leads to additional charges for drivers involved in a pedestrian accident or other type of hit-and-run incident, and injured parties or victims’ families may consider their own legal courses.

An accident involving a pedestrian recently took place in Texas that resulted in the pedestrian’s death. It was reported that the incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m., and the driver did not remain on the scene. The vehicle was crashed, and the driver apparently fled the scene on foot.

The incident resulted in the pedestrian suffering serious injuries, which he succumbed to after being transported to an area hospital. Authorities are still working to locate the driver of the vehicle and stated that that individual could potentially face charges for leaving the scene and other allegations. Police will also work to determine whether the driver was under the influence when the incident took place.

A Personal Injury/Hit-and-Run Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation

While the authorities look for the driver involved in the pedestrian accident, the family of the victim are likely facing much grief and hope that the driver is located soon. During this time, they may also wish to determine whether seeking a civil claim against the driver might be a route that are inclined to follow. When the driver is found, filing a wrongful death claim in Texas may allow them to seek compensation for their loss and other damages.
