Houston Girl, Baby Killed in Hit-and-Run
In extremely unfortunate circumstances, a negative situation can go from bad to worse. When a person is struck by a vehicle the situation can be made much worse if the driver of the vehicle fails to remain on the scene. A hit and run accident can lead to a complicated situation in which authorities must work to locate the correct person involved, and an injured party or family could be left seeking justice.
A similar situation took place in Texas when a pregnant teenage girl was hit by a car and the male driver left the scene. The event reportedly took place when the girl met the man in order to allegedly make a drug deal and began arguing. The man then hit the girl with an SUV, killing both the girl and her unborn child.
Authorities were able to locate the suspected driver and take him in to custody. He has currently been charged with two counts of murder due to the death of the girl and the fetus. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more information could be available as authorities draw further conclusions.

Because the driver did not remain on the scene after the hit and run accident, the young girl and her unborn child may not have received the medical attention needed as quickly as possible. It is unfortunate that two deaths had to result from the incident, and the family of the young girl will undoubtedly face emotional struggles. As a result, they may choose to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver deemed at fault, and if the driver is convicted of the pending murder charges, the chances of success for a wrongful death claim could increase. If it is successful, the family could potentially receive reparations for damages permitted under Texas law.
