Deadly 18-Wheeler Crash in San Antonio
Many Texas residents who travel in high traffic areas have experienced the slight apprehension of driving too closely to an 18-wheeler. The sheer bulk of those trucks can plant horrible images in a person’s mind of what would happen to a smaller vehicle involved in a tractor trailer accident. When more than one tractor trailer is involved in the incident, the scene can be even more devastating.
Two tractor trailers and a smaller pick-up truck were involved in an accident on June 19. Miraculously, the occupants of the pick-up only suffered minor injuries, which surely came as a great relief considering the other possible outcomes. Unfortunately, the results of the major accident were not so lucky for the two tractor trailer drivers. One driver died as a result of the accident and the other suffered severe burns on the majority of his body.
At this time the cause of the accident is unknown. Texas authorities are investigating to determine how the collision occurred and if any charges should be filed against the party or parties deemed at fault. Any accident involving a fatality and serious injuries should be looked into carefully and all aspects examined to conclude the series of events leading up to the accident.
A Texas Semi-Truck Accident Attorney can Help Win Financial Compensation
Though the cause of the accident has not yet been found, there is already a possibility for several civil claims to result from the tractor trailer accident. Should the deceased victim not be found at fault, the family may wish to seek a wrongful death claim against the driver who is deemed at fault. The other tractor trailer driver may also want to file a personal injury claim for the burns sustained in the accident and compensation for what will surely be an extensive recovery period. All involved in the accident may find looking into Texas personal injury or wrongful death laws beneficial until the cause of the accident is concluded.
