Houston Mother of Three Injured by DWI Suspect
A Texas mother of three nearly lost her life when an alleged drunk driver ran her car up on a curb and struck the woman. The woman’s husband said they and their children were waiting to cross the street at a Corpus Christi intersection when a Ford Mustang plowed into the woman. He says his wife’s motherly instincts allowed her to push their little girl out of the way, saving the daughter from injury. Unfortunately, this Texas pedestrian accident has now left the woman with serious injuries.
Those injuries will reportedly require at least three surgeries, not to mention extensive physical therapy for the mother to recover. Her husband said that his wife is suffering a lot of pain and will have a difficult road to recovery. The accident happened on July 4, when the reportedly drunk woman ran off the road, struck the woman and then kept driving.
When it was obvious that the driver wasn’t going to stop, the husband and another man purportedly began to chase her down. Authorities report that the allegedly drunk driver was stopped by those two men when they caught up to her on and called police. Officials arrested the driver and charged her with intoxicated assault with a motor vehicle under Texas law.

This pedestrian accident has not only left the family shaken, but with extensive medical bills as well. Reportedly a benefit account has been established to help with those costs, but it’s very possible that donations will not make a significant dent in rapidly mounting bills. As the mother struggles to recover from her severe injuries, the family may assess her rights to file a personal injury claim under state law, seeking to hold negligent any party whose negligence was deemed to have caused the treacherous car accident.
