Anderson, Texas Sherrif's Dept. Investigating Car Crash
An Anderson County sheriff’s deputy has been listed in critical condition following a three-car accident that occurred on June 2. According to Texas police officials, the car accident occurred at around 10:45 p.m. The deputy was traveling on Route 287 just inside Palestine city limits when his Chevy Impala was struck on both sides by two other vehicles.
Officials have stated that the deputy was en route to back up another officer who was responding to an emergency call. As a result of the accident, five other individuals were injured, including three children. However, these five individuals were able to avoid serious injuries according to police officials. Meanwhile, the deputy, who is 24 years old and was promoted to deputy sheriff after his completion of the East Texas Police Academy, suffered broken bones and other serious injuries. His condition is stable but he remained in the hospital in the intensive care unit as of the night following the collision, according to the Anderson County Sheriff.
The accident is currently being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. No factors have been released as to the cause of the accident, and no suspicions have been advanced as to who was at fault. The Sheriff stated that the DPS investigating officer will conclude the investigation and would not comment further on who they believe was responsible.
